Through a generous $115,940 grant from Green Mountain Energy Sun Club, the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas is bringing sustainability to life at Camp Gambill with a 116-panel, 48.72kW solar array installed on two camp buildings.
Over its lifespan, the solar array can generate pollution-free electricity equivalent to 1,888 gallons of gasoline and offset as much carbon dioxide (CO₂) as 1,494 mature oak trees, demonstrating the real-world environmental benefits of clean energy.
The new system helps generate 79% of the camp's electricity needs and is expected to provide approximately $244,000 in energy cost savings over the next 25 years, creating long-term benefits that support the organization's mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
Together, Sun Club and the Girl Scouts are helping inspire the next generation of environmental leaders through hands-on experiences that showcase the positive impact of renewable energy and sustainable solutions.
