Rooftop solar array and EV chargers
66.5 kW
Solar-powered heavy machinery is now a reality thanks to EV charging infrastructure and rooftop solar offsetting 92% of a warehouse's energy needs.
Since its founding in 1958, Brother's Brother Foundation (BBF) has bridged the gap between aid and sustainability in the areas of Healthcare, Infrastructure, Disaster Response and Education for underserved communities in over 42 countries around the world. In 2013, BBF launched its Infrastructure Program focusing on the areas of solar power and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), with the overall goal of creating reliable, clean and affordable access to energy. To date, the program has successfully installed 78 solar PV systems at clinics and hospitals globally, with seven of them completed in 2020 alone.
A new rooftop solar installation and a trio of dual circuit EV chargers are anticipated to save the organization over $20,000 in annual fuel and electricity savings, thanks to a $178,547 grant from the Sun Club. The charging infrastructure will power the warehouse's heavy machinery and also be available for staff, volunteer and general public use.
Moving forward, BBF will “walk the walk” and move to cleaner energy sources, not only reflecting the work it does around the world within its own organization, but also unlocking additional funding to contribute to future work.
