NAME: Sherren Harter
OFFICE: Austin
TITLE: Director of Marketing
TIME ON THE MOUNTAIN: 3 years

HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR WAY TO THE MOUNTAIN?
I was working at Hostess Brands in Dallas and randomly saw a job posting for a marketing manager at Green Mountain, so I reached out to a former b-school classmate who worked here. I realized I’d stumbled upon my dream job – combining my love for marketing with the chance to truly make a difference in the world every single day. My family moved back to Austin and never looked back!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
Working on diverse projects supporting all areas of the company. Influencing how customers and soon-to-be-customers think about and interact with Green Mountain. Exploring my creative side by writing copy for digital ads and C&I brochures and lots in between. More than all of that, I love working with the smartest, most talented, passionate, fun people I’ve ever met. You all are the real reason I come to work each day!

THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON YOU'VE LEARNED ON THE MOUNTAIN:
To be flexible and open to new opportunities. Things are always changing quickly here, and the best way to cope is to stay excited about and open to the new possibilities that change brings.

ONE THING YOUR CO-WORKERS MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU:
At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, I bought scalped tickets to see the USA vs. Algeria game where Landon Donovan scored in the 92nd minute, which advanced the team into the Round of 16. This time around, I picked Ghana to win it all in our office pool for sentimental reasons (we’ve been trying for a couple of years to adopt a child from Ghana), but still…you’d think I would know better.

SHARE SOME WORDS OF WISDOM:
Remember that little things make a difference! My husband came up with “a poor man’s gray water system” – we collect the water that runs while the shower is heating up in a pot, which we empty into the toilet tank the next time we flush. That’s one fewer gallon of water wasted for each shower! Another tip I just heard is to turn off your oven 10 minutes before your food is done cooking to save energy.
