If you think your identity has been used to set up service with Green Mountain Energy without your permission, we’ll help you sort it out.

We understand how frustrating and stressful it can be to have your identity stolen.

Please follow the steps below if you believe your identity has been stolen.

  • Get in touch with us as soon as possible. You can call us at 1-866-785-4668 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CT.
  • Find out if your identity may have been used to open an account.
  • Be sure to file a police report and keep a copy for your records.
  • Make sure you send all required documents to Green Mountain Energy.

Please collect the following documents to dispute an account.

  • Copies of two utility bills or formal letters in your name from other providers.
  • A notarized ID Theft Affidavit confirming you’re willing to press charges if needed.
  • A full copy of the police report.
  • A government-issued photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, state ID or passport)
  • A legible copy of your Social Security card in case it’s needed to verify who you are.

Why the ID Affidavit is important.

The ID Theft Affidavit is a simple standard form that makes reporting identity theft easier. It was created to help us look into your claim and resolve it as quickly as possible.

  • Make sure all information is accurate and complete to avoid delays.
  • Sign the affidavit in front of a witness or notary.
  • Be sure to check the box to press charges so we can move forward with the investigation.
  • If you can’t complete the affidavit yourself, a legal guardian or someone with power of attorney can do so for you.
