made possible thanks to the $9,000 donation made by the Sun Club earlier this year. The station is located right outside of our headquarters office in Austin, Texas!
The solar-powered station is one of several new stations the Austin B-cycle non-profit has installed this week to enable greener, pollution-free commuting across the city. Austin B-cycle is Austin’s bike share program that currently has over 40 B-cycle stations and nearly 400 B-cycle bikes located around downtown Austin. Austin B-cycle is working to provide a fun and fast way for locals and visitors to move about the downtown core.
Green Mountain employees joined leadership from the Sun Club and Austin B-cycle to officially dedicate the new solar-powered station in a special ceremony that featured live music from Matt the
Electrician. The new bike station is one of four new stations unveiled by Austin B-cycle this week as part of the Austin Bike Share Equity Project, designed to increase the usage of bike share among low-income populations as a low cost, reliable transportation solution.
Non-profit organizations interested in applying for a donation from the Sun Club can now apply for projects under any of the program’s new pillars, including: Renewables – solar, other renewable technologies; Environment – water conservation, air quality, waste reduction, sustainable agriculture; Community – energy efficiency upgrades, green commuting initiatives, public space enhancements; Education – environmental stewardship, promotion of careers in sustainability.
Applications for Sun Club donations are available now on the website.
Thanks to our customers and Sun Club supporters for your contributions to the program, which helps make solar donations like this one possible!
