Project Overview

The Houston Food Bank received a big serving of green from the Sun Club--$100,000 towards the 70 kW solar array on the roof of their headquarters! This solar project will help reduce the non-profit’s energy costs year after year and support its work to serve more than 74 million meals annually to those in need – all while powering its facilities with renewable energy from the sun! The Houston Food Bank is the largest Food Bank in the nation, according to recent reports from Feeding America.

The amazing thing about this solar donation is that the energy savings is the equivalent of providing two additional meals for Houston-area residents struggling with hunger, every hour of the day for the next 25-30 years! That could result in an additional tens of thousands of meals each year!
