Project Overview

A new hydro farm is headed to the South Dallas area, thanks to a $115,000 donation from Sun Club. This new farm will be housed in a shipping container and will be capable of producing up to 900 pounds of produce each month. That’s 164,000 servings of vegetables per year. The farm is strategically located in South Dallas to provide affordable and nutritious food to an area that has been known as a food desert.

The nonprofit Frazier Revitalization serves to lift up the Frazier community, which has been marginalized politically, socially and economically for decades. Frazier Revitalization is establishing a professional urban farm system—called Hatcher Farm—in the heart of South Dallas Fair Park. This systematic farming mechanism will create local jobs and provide local fresh foods. The farm aims to be a “training farm” so it can be replicated in communities nationwide.
