Project Overview

Fort Worth Bike Sharing , a non-profit bicycle share program in Fort Worth, received $35,000 from the Sun Club to retrofit one existing bike-share station with solar power and install nine brand new stations powered by solar. These solar donations will help power the kiosks to make this pollution-free mode of transportation even more sustainable and will contribute to the non-profit’s mission to enhance the Fort Worth community by providing an affordable, efficient, environmentally friendly bike-share program.

On May 29, 2015 the mayor of Fort Worth, Betsy Price, joined Fort Worth Bike Share and Green Mountain Energy to dedicate the first solar kiosk built with help from the Sun Club, in the heart of the famed Stockyards. It's an important first step expanding the reach of this innovative and pollution-free transportation option. Now local residents and tourists can travel around much of Fort Worth with a bike rental docking station not too far away.
