Project Overview

Designed and created by J. Liddon Pennock, Jr. (1913-2003), PHS Meadowbrook Farm  remains his garden legacy. Situated on 25 acres in Abington Township to the north of Philadelphia, 18 of those acres are lightly-managed, second-growth woods and the remaining seven acres contain the private house, display gardens, and garden center.  It is now owned and managed by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and is home to the green houses where many of the flowers for the world-renowned PHS Philadelphia Flower Show are grown.

With help from the Sun Club, the garden center at Meadowbrook Farm received a newly renovated covered canopy with a solar panel roof. Now their plants are grown with an extra boost of sunlight from this new solar shade structure. Not only does it provide energy savings each month for the next 25-30 years, it also exposes thousands of visitors a year to the wonder, beauty and benefits of solar energy!
