Houston Zoo

Founded in 1922, the Houston Zoo is set in a 55-acre lush tropical landscape and home to more than 4,500 exotic animals representing more than 800 species. It is dedicated to the conservation of endangered species, the provision of engaging educational opportunities and the creation of stimulating exhibits that broaden the experiences of our guests and encourage their curiosity. These were just some of the reasons that made the Houston Zoo a natural fit for our 12th Sun Club donation.

The array is mounted on the lion house and helps provide power for the facility which cares for these majestic animals. Its location also offers exposure to solar energy to the millions of visitors each year and can be seen while viewing the wild dogs of Africa. A solar educational sign also accompanies the donation and informs those viewing the array what it is, how it works and why it's an important feature of the Houston Zoo.
