You won’t find another spot like this in the nation! Lehigh Gap Nature Center is a former Superfund site turned nature center, and it will go net-zero energy across all operations with a new solar array.

With an $87,048 donation by Sun Club for a 23.4 kW solar system, Lehigh Gap Nature Center will be net-zero in energy usage, meaning the solar panels on the Center will produce enough electricity to cover 100 percent of the building’s energy needs. That is equivalent to avoiding 49,560 pounds of CO2 per year, an amount it would take 5,247 trees to absorb. In addition, the savings on electricity costs mean that more money goes towards Lehigh Gap’s mission to protect the wildlife and enhance the habitats of its Refuge and the neighboring Kittatinny Ridge.
