Project Overview

Alpine Public Library can now power its mission with the help of solar thanks to a $25,000 donation from the Sun Club. The donated solar panels are on the roof of what the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation named as one of the “top three best small libraries in the nation!" This source of pollution-free and renewable energy enables the non-profit to lower its electricity bill and provide new educational opportunities to the Alpine and surrounding communities.

In addition to the solar project dedication, the Sun Club named a winner in the library’s bookmark competition. Students from around the area submitted bookmark designs for the theme “How Solar Works.” In addition to a host of prizes, the young winner also had the honor of her bookmark design being printed at distributed at the Alpine Library. As her winning design stated, "Reading Makes Life Shine!" And so do solar panels at this exceptional library.
