Project Overview
To celebrate their university’s centennial anniversary, the student-run Rice Habitat for Humanity chapter wanted to design and build a house that was unique among all Habitat homes. Not only in architecture but also in energy efficiency. What they ultimately built did not disappoint. Modern, stylish, functional and built with solar energy in mind with a slanted roof perfectly situated for a 5 kW array. This is not the first Habitat home to be fitted with solar thanks to the Sun Club, but it’s certainly the most beautiful. Green Mountain employees also had the honor of helping to build this unique structure on the day the roof framing was installed. We literally raised the roof!
