Project Overview

Main Street Theater , a Houston-based non-profit theater that challenges its audience to think and its artists to grow, was given $100,000 from the Sun Club to fund the installation of 77 solar panels on its newly renovated building. The bulk of the solar array is on the roof, powering a significant portion of the theater's electrical operations during the day. On the front of the building several panels were placed to be a visual billboard announcing this unique theater is powered partly by the sun! Not only do the panels help Main Street Theater reduce its environmental footprint but they also save the important cultural institution money on its electricity bill each month,  allowing it to put more funds towards its enriching mission.
