• Hamilton Pool Preserve in Dripping Springs, about 30 miles west of Austin, is a naturally-formed pool and grotto, complete with a breathtaking 50 foot waterfall. Visitors can swim, hike, picnic, and even take advantage of the guided nature tours. An entrance fee of $10 is required for vehicles. For updated swimming conditions, call (512) 264-2740.

• San Solomon Springs, the historic spring-fed pools situated at the center of the 45-acre Balmorhea State Park, are open to swimmers and scuba divers alike. The park’s main attraction is the 77,000 square foot artesian pool, as well as a desert wetland where visitors can witness the local species. Entrance fee is $7 for ages 13 and older, additional fee for camping.

• Comal Springs in New Braunfels consists of over 7 major springs, making it the largest in the American Southwest.  Visitors can enjoy swimming in Landa Park’s natural pool, going downstream to the Schlitterbahn water park, or tubing the Comal River.  The water is clear and cool, and the variety of available activities makes this the perfect family destination.

• Barton Springs, a favorite among the Austin locals, is the fourth-largest natural spring in the state.  This natural pool is fed from an underground flow of water, keeping Barton Springs at a cool 68 degrees year-round.  Entrance fee is $3 for adults, $1 for children.

• Blue Hole in Wimberley is surrounded by 126 acres of natural forests, allowing visitors to experience the unique wildlife and delicate ecosystem while swimming in the cool waters. Activities include swimming, picnicking, hiking the nature trails, and camping in the public park. $7 entrance fee for adults, $3 for children.
