Project Overview

Located in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame honors over 100 Texas men and women who have excelled in the sport and business of rodeo and the western lifestyle. It is housed in one of the century-old brick barns which is now solar-powered thanks to the Sun Club! The solar array is the first in the Fort Worth Stockyards and believed to be the first for a Hall of Fame museum in Texas. U.S. Congresswoman Kay Granger joined a host of others to officially “flip the switch” of the solar array during a ceremonial dedication.

“Who would have ever guessed a near 100-year-old building could use the sun’s rays to operate more economically,” said Jami Hoffman, executive director of Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame. “This solar-array panel will complement our original green-energy transportation –The Sterquell Wagon Collection. I will now add a couple of words to Amon G. Carter’s phrase: ‘Fort Worth, it’s where the West begins…to go green!’”
