More Deposit Options
Instead of paying a deposit, you can submit one of the following for us to review:
- Letter of Guarantee from a current, qualified Green Mountain customer
Give us a call at 1-866-785-4668 to request a form and confirm your guarantor's eligibility.
- Letter of Credit from your most recent electricity provider
Ask your previous provider to fax it to 1-855-583-3345. They’ll need to include the following in the fax cover sheet:
- Your Green Mountain account number
- The name on the account
- Your service address
- Your phone number
- Proof that you are at least 65 years old
Provide a photocopy of one of these forms of identification:
- Valid, unexpired state-issued identification card
- Driver’s license from the United States
- Passport
- Alien Registration card
- Consulate ID / Matricula Consular (for any country)
- Texas Concealed Handgun License
Email your identification to idvalidation@greenmountain.com or fax it to 1-855-583-3345. Include the following in your email or fax cover sheet:
- Your Green Mountain account number
- The name on the account

Proof that you are active military personnel
Email a copy of your current military orders to idvalidation@greenmountain.com or fax it to 1-855-583-3345. Include the following in your email or fax cover sheet:
- Your Green Mountain account number
- The name on the account
- Your service address
- Your phone number
Proof that you are medically disadvantaged
Call customer service directly to request the Medically Indigent Certification Form — they will be able to provide it for you. Here are some important things to keep in mind:
- For Section 2, the name on your Green Mountain account must match the name on the form. Additionally, your primary address must match the address on your account.
- For Section 3, a certified representative (i.e. Social Security office or a government funded energy assistance program provider) must complete this section, or you may attach proof of government assistance (i.e. Social Security or Retirement Income, Unemployment or Worker's Compensation, or Child Support/Alimony documents) to the form.
- For Section 4, your health care physician must complete and sign this section.
- Completion of the Income Calculation Worksheet on page 2 is not required, but will help us decide if the income eligibility portion of the requirements in Section 3 has been met.

- Proof that you are a victim of family violence
Please fax a copy of your Certification Letter for electric service to 1-888-307-2674. Include the following in your fax cover sheet:
- Your Green Mountain account number
- The name on the account
- Your service address
- Your phone number
Your letter should be dated within the past 12 months and come from one of the following: the Texas Council on Family Violence, treating medical personnel, law enforcement personnel, the office of a Texas district attorney or county attorney, the office of the attorney general, or grantees of the Texas Equal Access to Justice Foundation. If you don’t already have the completed documentation, you may obtain it from your caseworker. Please do not submit police reports, protective orders or other letters. New Occupant Confirmation
If you recently moved, we may be waiting for two documents of confirmation from you:
- New Occupant Confirmation Form: Please include the ESID number for your service address on this form.
- A photocopy of one of the forms of additional documentation listed in the form.

Security Notification
We weren’t able to confirm your identity, so we’ll need a copy of two of the following valid forms of identification:
- Valid, unexpired state-issued identification card
- Driver’s license from the United States
- Passport
- Alien Registration card
- Consulate ID / Matricula Consular (for any country)
- Texas Concealed Handgun License
- Social Security card

Power As You Go Balance
If you signed up for the Power As You Go plan, please keep in mind that your service will not start until you have a balance of $30, although we recommend a balance sufficient to cover at least 14 days of estimated electricity usage. A minimum balance of $5 is required to continue service without being disconnected.* Here’s how you can add funds to your account:

*Local utility charges (i.e., PUC-approved delivery charges for maintaining poles, wires and meters) may be deducted from your balance at any time.

Copy of Deed or Lease Required
Please submit a copy of your entire deed or lease (account holder’s name must be on document) via email (addressconfirmation@greenmountain.com) or fax it to 1-855-583-3346. You’ll also need to include a cover sheet with the following information:
- Your Green Mountain account number
- The following signed statement: "I allow Green Mountain to continue processing my enrollment."
- The name on the account
- The address for which you're requesting service
- Your daytime phone number and the best time to reach you
Please keep in mind that it takes us at least two business days after we receive a copy of your deed or lease to finish processing your enrollment.

Surety bond finalization
If you chose a surety bond instead of paying a deposit, it must be paid before we can start your service.
