Convivium Osteria Restaurant in Brooklyn Goes “Green”

Restaurant purchases clean renewable energy from Green Mountain Energy Company

BROOKLYN, NY – Convivium Restaurant in Brooklyn, which serves classical Mediterranean Cuisine is now “greener.” The restaurant, located at 68 Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn (between Bergen and St. Marks), has agreed to purchase a cleaner electricity product from Green Mountain Energy Company that will match 100 percent of the restaurant’s usage with clean renewable energy from American sources.

Convivium Osteria will be purchasing an estimated 46,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy from Green Mountain annually over the 12 month term of its agreement. Green Mountain is the only electric services company (ESCO) in New York focused solely on cleaner energy. By purchasing renewable energy, the restaurants will offset 61,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually. That’s the equivalent of removing more than 380 taxi cabs from the road for a day!

“We are really excited to be purchasing cleaner energy for Convivium Osteria because it further supports our other environmental initiatives, such as purchasing foods and produce from local organic farmers,” said Michelle Pulixi, Owner of Convivium Osteria. “We are pleased that a 100 percent renewable energy product is available and is an option for our restaurant.”

“Green Mountain applauds Convivium Osteria for purchasing a cleaner electricity product for its restaurant and helping to create awareness about the benefits of renewable energy for restaurant patrons and area businesses,” said Scott Hart, President, Commercial Services, Green Mountain Energy Company. “This renewable energy purchase further helps Green Mountain accomplish its mission to change the way power is made.”
