Customer Event: Austin Ladybug Release

A group of 7,500 ladybugs, known as a “loveliness” flew into the flora and fauna at Butler Trail at Lady Bird Lake on June 12. Green Mountain Energy Company employees released the ladybugs in celebration of a customer that avoids 7,500 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions each year by using solar panels to power her home. Karen Cripe lives in Round Rock and hasn’t had to pay an electricity bill since early 2011 thanks to her home’s solar array and the company’s renewable energy buyback plan. When she called Green Mountain to donate a portion of her bill credit to an energy assistance program, the employees wanted to do something special.
