A Texas Landmark Is Going Solar

A national natural landmark is going solar! The Sun Club® recently presented a $40,000 donation check to Texas Parks and Wildlife for their Enchanted Rock State Natural Area in Fredericksburg, Texas. The addition of solar power to the park’s welcome center will help offset some of the park’s energy costs, making it possible for more people to enjoy the natural beauty of Enchanted Rock.

Texas Parks and Wildlife is on a mission to manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of the great state of Texas. The agency is a regional and national leader in natural resource conservation, and the use of solar power at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is a testament to that leadership. The Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas that has drawn admirers for more than 12,000 years.

“Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Enchanted Rock is truly a natural wonder. The Sun Club is proud to partner with Texas Parks and Wildlife to help such an important natural landmark become even more sustainable,” said Mark McShane, president of the Sun Club. The donation check from the Sun Club was presented during a Texas Parks and Wildlife commissioners meeting.

Stay tuned as this exciting new solar project continues to be developed.
