Then: Malls
Clipping coupons. Frantically rushing from store to store. Leaving the mall with a big smile after finding the perfect outfit. Good times.		 Now: Online Shopping
Get dressed? No way. Simply sit there in your PJs and fill up your shopping cart until you fall asleep.

 

2. Call Me, Maybe

Then: Landline Phones    
The landline telephone was your bestie. Voicemails made your heart skip a beat.		 Now: Cell Phones
Nowadays, your cell phone is pretty much an extension of your right hand.

 

3. I’m Basically a Genius

Then: Encyclopedia  
Remember flipping through all of those pages of your fave encyclopedia? Us, too.		 Now: Online Search Engines
Thank goodness for University of Google. It gets us through life.

 

4. That’s My Jam

Then: CDs
The amazing album art. The hours spent in your favorite music shop. Those were the days.		 Now: Streaming Music
We’ll miss you, CDs. But having instant access to millions of songs isn’t so bad, after all.

 

5. Power My Place

Then: Coal Electricity
Back then, renewables accounted for only 7.1% of total energy consumption. Coal electricity was alive and well—powering the homes of many. Green Mountain wanted to change the game by offering our customers access to 100% clean electricity.		 Now: Clean Electricity
According to the 2018 Sustainable Energy in America Factbook, “U.S. power sector greenhouse gas emissions fell 4.2% to the lowest annual level since at least 1990. Wind and solar capacity have increased over 471% since 2008.”

Over the past 21 years, we’ve seen a lot of things change—including the demand for clean electricity. We’re excited to see so many people doing what they can to protect the environment.
