Take the Pledge for America Recycles Day

Every time you make an effort to recycle reusable materials, you’re making a difference for the environment by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving energy, reducing the need for landfills and incineration, and so much more.

America Recycles Day (ARD) on November 15th celebrates the efforts of you and others that positively impact our environment through recycling.

The national recycling rate has increased every year since 1980, but the current recycling rate is only at 34% - we see some room for improvement there! ARD encourages you to take the following pledge:

Learn: I will find out what materials are collected for recycling in my community at americarecyclesday.org.
Act: Reduce my personal waste by recycling. Within the next month, I will recycle more.

If you want to get even more involved, ARD events are registered all across the country. You can visit the website, enter your zip code, and see what events are happening near you. These events range from mass recycling collections to educational meetings, and should all be enlightening and motivating. The ARD website is also an excellent source for discovering where and how to properly recycle all of your reusable materials. Celebrate this America Recycles Day by attending an event in your area and finally recycling those materials you’ve had lying around the house. Take the pledge to learn and act with ARD, and make a sustainable difference for the environment!
