Join in on World Cleanup Day 2019

This September 21, over 157 countries and 18 million volunteers will come together around a singular mission: to ensure a greener planet for us all. World Cleanup Day remains the biggest waste collection day in human history—and this year, we encourage all Green Mountain Energy customers to take part!

Those looking to get involved only need to take a couple steps before September 21 to get involved.

  1. Become a cleanup volunteer — Visit the Contact page, type in your country, and fill out your information. Local events will appear that you can register for! Don’t see one near you? No worries—you can organize a cleanup of your own! You can do that through the Contact page as well. Likewise, you could look to partner organizations like the Ocean Conservancy, who are also hosting waste removal efforts this month.
  1. Download the TrashOut app and start to map — See a river that could use a helping hand? Know a roadway that needs unwanted trash removed? Map it on the TrashOut map. This collection of data will help organizers plan sites for cleanup on World Cleanup Day and identify areas within your community that need greater attention.
  1. Spread the word — Get other earth-minded members of your community involved in your cleanup day. Share on social by hashtagging the effort #worldcleanupday and email friends and family to sign up for events close to them.

At Green Mountain Energy, we know that a cleaner planet takes work—but together, we stand to have the greatest impact. Let us know how you’re getting involved with World Cleanup Day or other local cleanup efforts on social at @GreenMtnEnergy or on Facebook.
