ENERGY STAR Sales Tax Holiday this Weekend in Texas

Looking to get your home in tip top energy-efficient shape before the summer?  You’re in luck - this Memorial Day weekend, Texas shoppers can get a break from state and local sales and use taxes on the purchases of certain ENERGY STAR-certified products.  Now would be the perfect time to get that new appliance you’ve been waiting for!

The sales tax holiday begins Saturday, May 25 and ends on Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day!).   Shoppers can get the tax break both in-store and online, wherever these products are sold.

The products qualifying for the exemption include:

-         Air conditioners priced at $6,000 or less

-         Refrigerators priced at $2,000 or less

-         Ceiling fans

-         Incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs

-         Clothes washers*

-         Dishwashers

-         Dehumidifiers

-         Certain programmable thermostats**

* Because most dryers use similar amounts of energy, ENERGY STAR does not label clothes dryers.
