Green Mountain Now Serving Homes in Massachusetts and New Jersey!

Green Mountain Energy Company is excited to announce we are now serving 100% clean, renewable energy sourced from wind to households in Massachusetts and New Jersey!

Choosing renewable energy is one of the easiest ways to help the environment. Now, residents in the Eversource (NSTAR) territory in Massachusetts and JCP&L customers in New Jersey can do just that with Green Mountain – just in time for Earth Day!

It’s important to protect the Earth every day, and we’re thrilled to give more customers in the Northeastern U.S. a new way to give back to our planet by choosing clean energy.

“People value clean energy as an option to power their homes and positively impact the environment,” said Mike Starck, managing director of Green Mountain Energy Company. “Green Mountain’s expansion into these new areas is a direct result of consumers’ growing demand for renewable energy, and we’re excited to invite new customers to join us in our mission to change the way power is made.”

Electricity products sourced from 100% national wind are available through the Green Mountain website. Fixed and variable rate plans are available. Green Mountain already contributes to the Green Mountain Energy Sun Club®, a company program that donates funds to build solar power projects for non-profit organizations, on behalf of every customer in its Eastern region territories and will now make a monthly contribution on behalf of all residential customers in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Last month, the Sun Club embarked on a solar donation road show, donating more than $422,000 across ten non-profit organizations in Pennsylvania and New York. Since its inception in 2002, the Sun Club has donated more than $3.8 million to install over 900 kilowatts of solar power. The Sun Club is always accepting applications from non-profits for solar power donations and encourages non-profits in Massachusetts and New Jersey to apply online.

Over the next couple of months, Green Mountain plans to expand service to households in towns served by the following utilities:

  • PSE&G and Rockland Electric in New Jersey
  • Potomac Edison in Maryland
  • National Grid and WMECo in Massachusetts

Customers can sign up for Green Mountain Energy® electricity any time online at www.greenmountainenergy.com, or in person at the New Jersey Spring Wine Festival on April 24, or at the XPoNential Music Festival happening July 24 - July 26. As a special incentive for Earth Month, we will plant trees at Texas schools in celebration of those customers who sign up for paperless billing. Go Tree Free today!
