Brother’s Brother Foundation Celebrates Clean Energy With Rooftop Solar and EV Chargers

The foundation’s new upgrades will support the needs of its local community, thanks to a grant from Green Mountain Energy Sun Club

PITTSBURGH, September 6, 2022 /3BL Media/ - North Side Pittsburgh-based Brother’s Brother Foundation (BBF) and Green Mountain Energy Sun Club are pleased to announce the activation of BBF’s new EV charging infrastructure and rooftop solar. These upgrades were made possible by a $178,000 Sun Club® grant, allowing BBF to help achieve its Infrastructure Program goal of creating reliable, clean and affordable access to energy both in Pittsburgh and around the world.

This project will save more than $20,000 in annual fuel costs and offset 92% of the warehouse’s energy needs. The rooftop solar array will power the Galveston warehouse and office building facility, in addition to charging forklifts and other equipment used in the warehouse. The six EV chargers will be made available for staff, volunteers, visitors, and members of the Pittsburgh community.

Known for sustainable relief efforts in the areas of healthcare, infrastructure, disaster response and education, BBF envisions a world where aid leads to sustainable development. With this grant, BBF can continue its mission to help those in need around the world while consciously decreasing its carbon footprint – key factors in the charitable program’s consideration for awarding grants.

“Green Mountain Energy Sun Club is thrilled to be partnering with Brother’s Brother Foundation and supporting the incredible work they have been doing,” said Mark Parsons, Green Mountain Energy vice president. “Our goal with Sun Club® is to help communities achieve their sustainability goals and educate others on how to live a more sustainable life, and organizations like Brother’s Brother Foundation are doing just that.”
