Green Mountain Energy Company is proud to announce that Lord & Taylor will be purchasing renewable wind energy for 100% of its electricity usage at its flagship Manhattan and Eastchester, New York stores for the next two years!
Lord & Taylor will purchase more than 13 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of wind power annually from Green Mountain to power these stores. This purchase exceeds the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Green Power Partnership requirements, which means based on EPA’s current 2011 Top List rankings, Lord & Taylor would rank No. 17 on EPA’s Top 20 Retail list. This represents the largest purchasers among retail partners within the Green Power Partnership.
By purchasing green power, Lord & Taylor is helping to reduce the environmental impact associated with their electricity use by avoiding more than 20 million pounds of carbon dioxide annually. This has a similar environmental benefit to not taking 3.6 million cab rides. Way to make a difference, Lord & Taylor!
