NAME: Dee Thomas
TITLE: Billing Operations Supervisor
TIME ON THE MOUNTAIN: 2 ½ Years
HOW DID YOU FIND YOUR WAY TO THE MOUNTAIN?
I landed on the mountain by a stroke of luck. I started as a contracted employee with a one month assignment, but 3 short months later I was fortunate enough to be offered a full-time position as a Billing Operations Analyst.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE GREEN MOUNTAIN MEMORY?
I experienced pure joy the first time I walked to my newly assigned desk after working in the Garrett conference room for two months. I was elated to be part of the Green Mountain family. Also, I enjoyed Green Mountain’s 15th birthday celebration with the dress up photo booth. I still have those pictures on my desk.
WHAT’S THE MOST INTERESTING ASPECT OF YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?
Each day, I have the opportunity to work with various employees whom I have taken cues from time and again. Those interactions have been catalysts for my growth.
HOW DO YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?
I ride my bike whenever feasible. I recycle at my house and pick up my parent’s recycling out in Bastrop. I’m conscientious of the amount of water I use in my home and reuse water to irrigate plants instead of putting it down the drain. In order to lower the amount of trash wasted, I built a small compost station on my back patio.
SHARE SOME WORDS OF WISDOM:
“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
