How can I compare the environmental characteristics and prices of different providers?
Green Mountain offers a number of clean, affordable electricity options. See the Public Utility Commission of Texas’ official rate listing for Green Mountain and other providers on the Power to Choose website. The Power to Choose site allows you to compare providers’ products along a variety of dimensions, including content (coal, wind, etc.), rate and contract term.
Does Green Mountain Energy Company offer credit (“net metering”) for energy that my home system may deliver back to the electricity grid?
Yes – it’s called the Renewable Rewards program. Please follow this link to learn more.

What do you mean 'clean' electricity?
The leading cause of industrial air pollution in the country is the production of electricity. While the majority of electricity generated in the U.S. is made by burning pollution-causing fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas, our 100% Wind and Pollution Freesm electricity products for Texas residential customers are produced using clean renewable resources — wind and water.
By choosing Pollution Free electricity over typical system power, a Texas household with average monthly usage of 1,000 kWh can prevent more than 2,300 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) pollution a year. That's a significant reduction in the average American household's share of CO2 emissions.

Is clean electricity the same thing as 'green power'?
Yes. The clean electricity you buy when you sign up for one of Green Mountain's pollution-free electricity products is a type of green power. For more information about green power from the EPA, click here.

Does buying clean electricity really make a difference?
When customers choose Green Mountain Energy Company, they are supporting the development of new renewable energy facilities. In fact, Green Mountain customers have spurred the development of almost 40 new renewable facilities across the country. In 2008, we estimate these clean energy facilities prevented the emission of 674,345 tons of CO2.
Purchasing cleaner electricity also helps ensure that renewable energy facilities are maintained and continue to run. And, it can help build demand for more new renewable generation facilities to be built.

Who do I call when my service goes out?
When you switch to cleaner electricity you will still get the same reliable service you have now. Your local utility will continue to read your meter, respond to power outages, and provide other services related to the delivery of your electricity. If you experience delivery problems (for example, if your power goes out), please contact your local utility.

Billing is simple. When you choose Green Mountain Energy electricity, you will receive a single bill from Green Mountain Energy that includes generation charges and covers transmission and distribution charges from the utility as well.
