What do you mean 'clean' electricity?
The leading cause of industrial air pollution in the country is the production of electricity. While the majority of electricity generated in the U.S. is made by burning pollution-causing
fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas, our
100% Wind and Pollution Freesm electricity products for Texas residential customers are produced using clean
renewable resources wind and water.
By choosing
Pollution Free electricity over typical system power, a Texas household with average monthly usage of 1,000
kWh can prevent more than 1,700 pounds of carbon dioxide (
CO2) pollution a year. That's a significant reduction in the average American household's share of
CO2 emissions.

Does buying clean electricity really make a difference?
When customers choose Green Mountain Energy Company, they are supporting the development of new renewable energy facilities. In fact, Green Mountain customers have spurred the development of 13 new renewable
facilities across the country (4 wind; 9 solar). In 2006, we estimate these clean energy facilities prevented the emission of 47,000 tons of
CO2.
Purchasing cleaner electricity also helps ensure that renewable energy facilities are maintained and continue to run. And, it can help build demand for more new renewable generation facilities to be built.

Who do I call when my service goes out?
When you switch to cleaner electricity you will still get the same reliable service you have now. Your local utility will continue to
read your meter, respond to power outages, and provide other services related to the delivery of your electricity. If you experience delivery problems (for example, if your power goes out), please
contact your local utility.
