Green Mountain Energy® Solar at the Houston Zoo — Houston
Visitors of the Houston Zoo can now experience the first solar powered zoo exhibit in the state of Texas! Green Mountain Energy Company customers who are members of the Big Texas Sun Club® donated the funds to build this 6.4 kW solar array which will provide approximately 38 percent of the Lion House’s electrical power requirements at peak hours. It is mounted on the roof and visible from the African Wild Dog exhibit. The addition of the array furthers the Houston Zoo’s mission of wildlife conservation through environmental protection.
