Green Mountain Energy® Solar at Habitate for Humanity — Dallas

About the Project

 

  • Dedicated November, 2004
  • 1.2 kW solar array donated by Green Mountain Energy Company’s Big Texas Sun Club®; offsets about 3,100 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) a year, which is the equivalent of not driving over 3,400 miles
  • First time a Dallas-area Habitat for Humanity home has included a solar array
  • Located in the North Fair Park area of Dallas and is owned and occupied by Maria Cazeres and her two children
  • Funded and built by students at Dallas Baptist University

About Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity

 

  • Mission to build communities of hope, dignity, and self-worth through the construction of quality, affordable housing and the nurture of decent, safe neighborhoods
  • Goal to eradicate substandard low-income housing in Dallas County
  • Provides a pathway for hardworking, low-income families to realize their dream of home-ownership
  • Homes built by volunteers and home recipients as part of their sweat equity
