Ballroom Marfa and Green Mountain Energy Company have partnered to install a solar array for the cultural arts space, located at 108 East San Antonio St., Marfa, Texas.
The 5.2 kilowatt (kW) solar array was installed in May 2009.
The 450-square-foot solar array is mounted on the building’s roof and was built with 30 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels that convert sunlight into electricity, producing 7,315 kW of clean energy annually.
The Green Mountain Energy® Solar at Ballroom Marfa is helping to power approximately 15 percent of the building’s annual electrical usage.
The solar array will offset 13,700 pounds of carbon dioxide (C02) annually. C02 is a greenhouse gas that is a leading contributor of global warming.
This has the same environmental impact of not driving a car over 15,000 miles annually or the annual sequestration from more than 800 trees.
