Wind Power Lighting Up Texas: Wind Farm at Brazos
Thanks in part to our customers' demand for cleaner electricity, The Wind Farm at Brazos is our largest renewable facility yet.
Completed in December, 2003, this utility-scale wind farm in West Texas:
In 2004, wind energy for our Texas customers from the Brazos Wind facility helped avoid the emissions of over 144,000 tons of CO2 which is the equivalent of taking about 25,000 cars off the road annually!
Green Mountain Energy electricity customers are making a difference in Texas and nationwide. This 160 MW wind farm is one of 13 new renewable facilities built since 1999 as a result of their demand for less-polluting electricity. Starting in 1999 and continuing through 2004, these 13 facilities together have been responsible for avoiding the emission of over 192,000 tons of CO2, a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. That's as much as 8.3 million trees would remove from the air in three years!

- Generates enough pollution-free electricity to power over 30,000 average Texas homes.
