In Oregon, utility customers of Portland General Electric can choose a 100% renewable energy option supplied by Green Mountain Energy Company.

Benefits
  • You'll remain a PGE customer and your service will be just as reliable as it is today.
  • Choose a renewable power option from PGE, and buy electricity that is 100% renewable.1
  • You can help support improvements for native fish habitats by choosing the Habitat Support Supplement.

Green Source®
Green Source allows you to purchase 100 percent of your electricity from renewable sources and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. With this plan, approximately 85 percent of the electricity you’re purchasing comes from new wind sources and 15 percent from new biomass (wood waste) power.

Habitat Support® (supplement to one of the three main options)
You may also select to support stream habitat for salmon and other fish in our service territory by paying an additional $2.50 per month, which goes directly to The Nature Conservancy, and is dedicated to restoring local salmon habitat.

Options Renewable Power Sources How This Option Works Costs
Green Source® 100 percent renewable power from new wind and biomass sources.* 100 percent of your monthly usage is offset with renewable resources. Your regular PGE energy rate plus an additional $0.008 per kWh.

About $7 more for a typical PGE residential customer.**
Habitat Support® (not applicable) First, you must select Green Source.

A monthly fee goes directly to the Nature Conservancy to support stream habitat for salmon and other fish.
$2.50 per month added to one of the plans you select above.

* “New” refers to facilities that became operational after July 1999.
** Based on a PGE customer using 910 kWh per month. Your cost may vary.

1 Compared to typical Oregon system power. You will not have electricity from a specific generation facility delivered directly to your house, but your electricity consumption will be matched annually in the northwest power grid by electricity from new wind and low-impact hydroelectric power sources.
