Company Partners with CheckFreePay to Accept Cash Payments
AUSTIN, Texas June 10, 2008 Green Mountain Energy Company, Texas’ only electric provider dedicated to cleaner energy, is making it easier for Rio Grande Valley customers to pay their monthly electric bills. The company has partnered with CheckFreePay to accept cash payments at more than 100 retail outlets and other locations throughout the Valley. CheckFreePay is the nation’s leading walk-in payment provider.
“Green Mountain customers in the Rio Grande Valley asked us for more convenient ways to pay their bills,” said Paul Markovich, senior vice president of Residential Sales for Green Mountain Energy Company. “We responded to these needs by partnering with CheckFreePay so customers can pay their bills at numerous locations that are convenient to where they live, work or shop.”
CheckFreePay payment stations are located in retail outlets in the Valley from Roma to Brownsville, including HEB Grocery Stores, Ace Cash Express, B&W Finance Co., A&V Lopez Supermarket, and Jalisco Payment Center. Green Mountain customers can visit

The CheckFreePay payment centers only accept cash for Green Mountain payments and customers need to bring their remittance slips to make payments. CheckFreePay will charge customers a convenience fee of $1.50 per payment.
Green Mountain was the first retail electric provider in Texas to offer renewable energy when electricity competition began in 2001. The company has been serving Texas residential and business customers for seven years with electricity products that are significantly cleaner than typical system power in Texas. Green Mountain recently expanded its sales and marketing efforts in the Rio Grande Valley, including launching its first multimedia bilingual campaign in early April.
