Green Mountain Energy Company Title Sponsor of Event to Help Educate Public about ‘Green’ Homes
DALLAS, Texas August 20, 2007 The Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas (HBA Dallas) today announced that it is hosting the first Green Built Parade of Homes event in North Texas. Green Mountain Energy Company, Texas’ only electricity provider devoted to cleaner energy, is the presenting sponsor of the North Texas event, which will take place Sept. 22 through Oct. 7.
The Green Built Parade of Homes is one of the only events of its kind in the country. It will be open to the public and will educate consumers about ways to make their homes greener, cleaner and more efficient. The Parade will be held at the Forest Hills subdivision in the town of Crossroads, Texas just minutes east of Denton.
The Green Built Parade will showcase resource-efficient, green homes that follow guidelines set forth by the HBA’s Green Built North Texas program. These guidelines address strategies for improving energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor air quality, material usage, site management, waste recycling and cleaner electricity. Area builders and vendors will present the very latest green innovations and building technologies directly to the public. Additionally, each home will feature state-of-the-art amenities and luxurious decor.
As part of its partnership, Green Mountain is offsetting all of the estimated carbon dioxide (C0
2) electricity consumption of the Parade homes. The C0
2 emissions are being offset through Green Mountain’s donation of a comparable amount renewable energy credits, making the event carbon neutral. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that has been identified as a major cause of global warming. This marks the fourth Parade of Homes event that Green Mountain Energy Company has sponsored.
“Purchasing pollution-free electricity from Green Mountain Energy Company is one of the easiest ways for North Texans to make their homes greener,” said Paul Markovich, senior vice president of residential services, Green Mountain Energy Company. “We hope that residents from all over the Dallas-Metropolitan area will attend the Green Built Parade of Homes to learn about simple steps they can take to make their homes more environmentally-friendly.”
Green Mountain Energy Company and HBA Dallas are offering attendees some new and educational attractions during this year’s Parade of Homes.
"We could not have asked for a more perfect partner for our Green Built Parade than Green Mountain Energy Company," said Bob Morris (CAPS), executive vice president of HBA Dallas. "Green is going mainstream, which is why the Dallas HBA and Green Mountain hope to ‘wow’ Parade attendees, as well as educate them on ways that they can ‘green up’ their homes, making them more energy efficient.”
The Green Built Parade benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation
® of North Texas and HomeAid/Home Builders Care. Discount tickets will be available at Tom Thumb stores throughout the metroplex. The Green Built Parade will feature homes from Beaver Builders; Cashion Custom Homes; Derecor Homes; Flagstone Custom Homes; Scarlett Custom Homes, Inc.; Silver Oak Custom Homes; and John Spencer Custom Homes.
