Green Mountain Energy Company Launches Clean Electricity Marketing Campaign in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area
Campaign Highlights Energy Independence and Affordability of Pollution Free Product
Austin, TX — January 27, 2005 — Green Mountain Energy Company, the nation's leading residential provider of cleaner electricity, announced today a new marketing campaign for the Dallas-Fort Worth area focused on energy independence, affordability and reliability. The campaign communicates the benefits of clean electricity and its positive impact on the environment, as well as emphasizing the role clean energy can play in reducing our nation's dependence on fossil fuels and foreign oil imports. Green Mountain Energy Company recently launched its Pollution Freesm product in Texas offering clean electricity at the same price customers are paying their local electricity provider.
"What many people don't realize is that electricity generation from coal-fired power plants is the leading cause of air pollution in the state of Texas in terms of carbon dioxide emissions," said John Savage, senior vice president of marketing for Green Mountain Energy Company. "As a matter of fact, in 2002 the state of Texas alone would have ranked as the seventh worst polluting country in the world in terms of carbon dioxide emissions from coal, behind countries like China, Russia and India. In particular, the website will emphasize how the purchase of clean electricity is a step in the right direction to help clean the air we breathe in Texas in addition to helping reduce our dependence on foreign sources of oil.

By signing up for Green Mountain Energy Company's 100% Wind product, a Texas residential customer with average monthly electricity usage of 1,000 kilowatt-hours can help avoid nearly 18,000 pounds of C02 per year, equivalent to about 20,000 miles not driven in a year. 100% Wind electricity from Green Mountain Energy Company is priced at a variable rate that will be a penny per kilowatt-hour more than the incumbent electricity provider's "Price to Beat", or about $10 more per month for the average Texan.
