One-Year Partnership Saves Ronald McDonald House Money on Electric Bills

Austin, TX — November 18, 2004 — The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas announced today that they have signed a two-year contract for cleaner electricity from Green Mountain Energy Company. Additionally, Green Mountain Dallas, an independent marketing representative for Green Mountain Energy® electricity in the Dallas area, is helping the organization with one major expense — electricity. The Dallas-based organization has agreed to donate $20,000 worth of electricity to Ronald McDonald House of Dallas for one year, paid in monthly installments of $1,700.

The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas exists to provide a home-away-from-home for families who have traveled to Dallas seeking medical treatment for their children.

"This contribution has a tremendous impact for all involved. Green Mountain makes a statement to the corporate community about caring and giving. It benefits the Ronald McDonald House directly with a savings. Ronald McDonald House contributes to the environment by using cleaner electricity to help us live better now, and we all benefit from cleaner air, especially the children of the families we serve," said Barbara McDermott, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.

"We feel this is one great way to do our part to give back to the Dallas community," said David Matthews, General Manager of Green Mountain Dallas. "Not only can we help those in need, but we can also do it without having an adverse effect on the environment."

In addition to the donation of electricity, Green Mountain Dallas is also a gold-level sponsor of the Trains at Northpark exhibit that opens this Saturday, November 20th. The cost to view the exhibit is $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for children and seniors. Approximately one half of the annual operating budget of the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas comes from the proceeds raised by The Trains at NorthPark.

Green Mountain Energy Company has been offering electricity that is cleaner than what most Texans are buying today to business and residential customers in Texas since April 2001. Green Mountain Energy electricity products offered in Texas are produced from pollution-free sources like wind and water and from the cleanest-burning fossil fuel, natural gas.

About Ronald McDonald House
The Dallas Ronald McDonald House is located on land donated by St. Paul Medical Center through the generosity of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and is a short distance from Children's Medical Center, Parkland Hospital, and St. Paul Medical Center. The House opened its doors in 1981 with the capacity to serve 10 families. In 1985 an expansion program doubled the size of the House. However, in 1993, more than 700 families were turned away because of lack of space. A second expansion program, completed in 1994, now enables the House to serve 30 families nightly.
