Green Mountain Helps Put Solar on Ronald McDonald House

Green Mountain, Austin Energy and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas are teaming up to install a 10.8 kilowatt (kW) solar array on the rooftop of the new Ronald McDonald House at the Mueller redevelopment in Austin. The new Ronald McDonald House, expected to open in November 2007, will be the first solar-powered Ronald McDonald House in the country.

The installation is funded by Green Mountain’s Big Texas Sun Club® and the Austin Energy solar rebate program. The Big Texas Sun Club is a program in which you can choose to support solar energy installations in Texas with an additional $5 on your monthly Green Mountain Energy® electricity bill. When completed, this project will be the 10th Big Texas Sun Club installation and the program’s first solar facility in Green Mountain’s home town of Austin.

For more information on the Big Texas Sun Club, including how to join, or to fill out an application for a worthy non-profit to be the next recipient of a solar array, please visit www.greenmountain.com/sunclub.
