Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the accounting and remittance functions with a staff of seven.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare timely and accurate financial records of the company in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Design, establish and monitor a framework of internal accounting controls within the financial system.
- Manage Company’s SOX compliance process
- Oversee the transactional accounting processes including AP/AR/GL/Payroll, etc.
- Serve as the technical reference for all financial and operational accounting issues.
- Implement FAS123R, FAS133, FAS157, FIN48, and other technical accounting requirements.
- Prepare external financial reporting and SEC filings, as applicable
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
- Manage the preparation of all tax filings.
- Manage relationship with external auditors and tax accountants.
- Perform analytical support to senior leadership in decision making/strategic direction of the organization
- Other related duties including special projects, ad hoc reporting and various systems and accounting policy related issues.
- Coordinate activities with financial planning/forecasting department to produce timely and accurate financial reporting and forecast
Required Skills and Experience:
- A decision maker with at least fifteen (15) years accounting experience
- with five to ten (5-10) in finance and accounting management
- at least 3 years, preferably 5 years, of public accounting experience, preferably with public reporting clients and
- at least 5 years of company accounting management experience with a public company is require
- Direct and significant participation in the preparation of SEC filings, including 10K, and 10Q in the SOX and Section 404 environment required.
- Must have played a significant role in public markets transaction and associated public filings
- Experience in the power and energy field a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to deal effectively with non-financial associates and all levels of management.
- Strong leadership skills with a positive attitude.
- Strong technical accounting skills including the ability to interpret FASBs and other technical accounting requirements and implement through the organization based on interpretation, experience with hedge accounting a plus.
- Strong ability to analyze and improve processes with attention to detail.
- Superior PC skills including Microsoft products, Microsoft Dynamics a plus.
- Must have the highest ethics standards for self and others.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance, MBA preferred.
- Current Certified Public Accountant license is preferred.
