Paul N. Markovich joined Green Mountain Energy Company in August 2000 as director of business development. He was instrumental in developing the company’s first apartment community sales channel, which is now a significant contributor to Green Mountain’s business in Texas. In 2001, Paul was appointed president of the Midwest region. In that capacity he was responsible for providing service to Green Mountain’s hundreds of thousands of northeast Ohio customers, as well as developing new aggregation opportunities to further build the Green Mountain Energy
® brand and customer base in the Ohio region.
In 2003, Paul was promoted to the newly-created position of senior vice president of U.S. markets. He was responsible for management and operations in Green Mountain’s competitive markets. In 2005, all residential businesses were consolidated under Paul, who was then named senior vice president of residential services. Under Paul’s leadership, Green Mountain’s residential customer base and revenues have grown dramatically.
Paul has over 25 years of energy industry experience, including multiple positions at Amoco Corporation and subsequently with BP following its merger. At Amoco, Paul held leadership positions in the information technology, financial controls, supply and trading, and purchasing organizations before becoming vice president of planning and administration for Amoco Supply and Trading Company in 1994. When BP and Amoco merged in 1999, Paul served as the manager of integration responsible for overseeing the merger of BP's and Amoco's, and then Arco's supply and trading functions.
Paul graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and German. He earned a master of business administration in finance from the University of Chicago in 1983. In addition to his academic achievements, Paul was a two-time NCAA qualifier in wrestling and is a member of the Indiana High School Wrestling Hall of Fame.
