The company has three primary business units: residential electricity, commercial electricity, and carbon offsets. This business strategy is designed to keep us in the forefront of the sustainability industry.
Residential Electricity
Green Mountain offers retail customers cleaner energy options in Texas via direct access retail electric service. In deregulated markets like Texas, customers are given the opportunity to choose their electricity provider and, consequently to choose how their power is made.
In regulated markets, Green Mountain partners with utilities who want to offer renewable energy products to their customers. Through these arrangements, we provide the sales, marketing and supply services required to operate a “green pricing” program. Our utility partners include Florida Power and Light, the largest utility in the country to offer a green pricing program, and Portland General Electric, which has the nation’s #1 ranked green pricing program among investor-owned utilities. We also participate in multi-supplier utility partnering programs in New York and New Jersey.
Commercial Electricity
The Commercial Division of Green Mountain primarily focuses on the deregulated electricity market in Texas. Its success has made Green Mountain one of the premier retail providers of electricity products to businesses and institutions in the state of Texas.
Carbon Offsets

Through our eMission Solutions division, Green Mountain is uniquely positioned to deliver innovative and cost effective carbon reduction solutions to commercial sector clients seeking to improve their environmental position. In addition to carbon offset/renewable energy credit products, Green Mountain offers a comprehensive suite of services including assistance with voluntary emissions and corporate sustainability reporting, green branding and marketing strategy, and carbon sequestration projects.
Individual Customers
The eMission Solutions division also offers individual consumers the ability to offset the carbon footprint from their household’s activities through BeGreensm Carbon Offsets.
