Our Strategic Visionaries

Bill Burden has served as a director of Green Mountain Energy Company since April 2005. Mr. Burden has been a member of the executive leadership for BP Energy Company since 2003, a leading marketer of energy to customers across North America. His current position as Senior Vice President includes leadership of strategy, business development and regulatory affairs in North America. Mr. Burden is active in the Natural Gas Suppliers Association (NGSA), currently serving on the Issues Committee. Previous to this, Mr. Burden has held a number of domestic and international leadership roles for BP, across engineering, planning and acquisitions — spanning some 27 years with the company. Mr. Burden holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. He currently is the President of a non-profit organisation dedicated to the support of music programs in the CyFair School District, as well as a lay leader in his church's youth program.

K. Scott Canon has served as a director of Green Mountain Energy Company since February 2005. Since April 2002, Mr. Canon has been the President of Ranger Capital Group, a Dallas-based investment management company. Prior thereto, Mr. Canon had served as its Chief Operating Officer since January 2001. From February 1999 to January 2001, Mr. Canon was Chief Financial Officer of Green Mountain Energy Company. From March 1992 to February 1999, Mr. Canon served in a variety of roles with the broker-dealer affiliate of Security Capital Group, a global real estate research, investment and operating management company. He was a member of the affiliate’s Board of Directors and Head of the Capital Placement Group. From October 1991 to March 1992, Mr. Canon worked for Chase Manhattan Bank and from August 1987 to October 1991 he worked for Goldman, Sachs & Co. Mr. Canon earned a B.A. degree (Phi Beta Kappa) with High Honors in Plan II and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Pieter Jöbsis has been a Green Mountain director since June 2002 and served as Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors from June 2002 until June 2003. Mr. Jöbsis has been Managing Director of Nuon Energy and Water Investments since May 2002. Nuon Energy and Water Investments, a division of Nuon N.V., holds Nuon's strategic investments in water (amongst others in The Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom) and in energy outside Europe (the United States and Asia). Prior to joining Nuon in late 2001, Mr. Jöbsis worked for Reed Elsevier, the Anglo Dutch publisher of scientific, legal, business and education information for professionals worldwide. At Reed Elsevier Mr. Jöbsis was Director of Corporate Finance from 1999 to 2001 and from 1996 to 1999 Mr. Jöbsis was CFO of the Science division, with its main operations in The Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom. From 1980 to 1996 Mr. Jöbsis worked with Royal Dutch/Shell in various finance functions in exploration and production, refining, marketing and chemicals companies in The Netherlands, Dutch Antilles and Thailand. Mr. Jöbsis holds masters degrees from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) in business and economics.

William J. Lhota was elected as a director of Green Mountain Energy Company in August 2003. Mr. Lhota is President and Chief Executive Officer for The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA). The Authority provides public transit and mobility services for residences and visitors to Columbus and the surrounding area. Prior to joining COTA Mr. Lhota was the sole proprietor of Lhota Services, which focused on arbitration, mediation, consulting as well as teaching and lecturing on business and engineering ethics. Prior to forming Lhota Services, Mr. Lhota had a nearly 37 year career with American Electric Power (AEP). Mr. Lhota retired at the end of 2001 as President — Energy Delivery, American Electric Power and Executive Vice President, American Electric Power Service Corporation. At retirement he was in charge of AEP's power transmission and distribution systems in eleven states. Mr. Lhota is currently a director of Huntington Bancshares Inc., the Ohio State University Alumni Association, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, and an advisory director of Twenty First Century Communications a national phone service company. Mr. Lhota is also a member of the Ohio Board of Building Appeals in the Ohio Department of Commerce and the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. Mr. Lhota earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The Ohio State University. He also earned a master's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Evan Wyly has been a Green Mountain director since March 1999 and was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors in August 2003. His current term as Chairman will expire December 31, 2008. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors from March 1999 to September 2000. He was a member of the management committee of Green Mountain Energy Resources, L.L.C. from August 1997 to June 1999. Since 1990, Mr. Wyly has been a Co-Founder of Maverick Capital, Ltd., a manager of equity hedge funds with $10 billion in assets, where he served as a Managing Partner through 2007. Mr. Wyly was also a director of Sterling Commerce from 1995 to 2000, Sterling Software from 1992 to 2000, and Michaels Stores from 1992 to 2000. He earned a B.A. degree from Princeton University and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School.
